Before You Walk the Walk

So many times as Christians we want to burst out onto the scene and preach the good news to all creation all amped up and ready to go...before we are prepared. I often hear the analogy of a soilder going off to war, but without his armor. Would a captain or superior officer send a soilder to war without his shield or sword? How about his chainmail? I know, I know, not many people are in the army with a sword and chainmail now a days, but you get the idea. That solider would get hit left and right and front and back with no defense and no way to protect himself! He is doomed to certain death!

What about us? Do we go off to war - the spiritual war - unarmed and unable to protect ourselves from Satan's evil tricks and his minions taunts and lies? How are you preparing for the battle of all battles? The war of all wars? The fight of your life? The fight of your soul? How are your preparing to walk the Walk in your everyday life let alone on the battlefield? Get down on your knees and bruise them! Find out what weapons of mass destruction a Christian should have. Hint - it's not in the physical sense. The war has just begun! Are you prepared?

Before You Walk the Walk

Before you walk
the Walk,
ask for faith,
ask for love,
and for hope.
Ask for the strength
to live the life
He wants you to
and the courage to carry on.

Before you walk
the Walk,
ask for comfort,
ask for truth,
and forgiveness.
Ask for the patience
of Job and the
wisdom of Solomon.

Before you walk
the Walk...
...you have to bruise your knees.

Pray without ceasing - 1 Thessalonians 5:17

When you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. - Matthew 6:6

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. - Galatians 5:22 - 23

Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. - Ephesians 6:10 - 18

Running Blind

About 4 or 5 years ago, I kept hearing the words over and over again "Running Blind" when I thought of how we as humans seem to face life. We tend to run aimlessly with no clear direction, without looking for the Light and Truth that is right before us. We run towards nothing and expect something out of it.

Running blind
heading for nowhere.
You're running blind
and you don't seem to care.

What lies ahead in the darkness?
Is there a light
just down the road?

Running blind
heading for the unknown.
Running blind
heading down the wrong road.

Can you see beyond the darkness?
Can you see
if there's a light?
Can you see
the Truth ahead?

Something's got to give.
Something's got to take.
You must break free
of running blind.

The Truth is right there before you.
Stop running blind
and open your eyes.

Through the Eyes of a Child

I wrote this when I was praying about working with the kids again at my church. I heard it as a song running through my head. I've heard it all my life that we are all of God's children and must come to Him as such. So, how do children see their Heavenly Father? Or rather how should they? Well, here's what I wrote down how I personally would like to see Him.

Through the eyes of a child
I long for You.
Through the eyes of a child
I sit at Your feet -
Listening and learning
Of Your Way.

Melt away myself.
Wash me white as snow.
Take away myself,
Because, Lord, I want to know
You, through the eyes of a child.

Innocent eyes
Absorbing Your Truth,
Soaking in Your love.
Touch my heart today, Lord.
I long to feel You
Through the eyes of a child.

Through the eyes of a child
I long for You.
Through the eyes of a child
I long for Your embrace.
I sit at Your feet
Listening and learning
Of Your Way and Truth.
Through the eyes of a child
Soaking in Your love.
Through the eyes of a child.
The eyes of a child.
Through the eyes of a child.

The Gate

The other night I had a vision. And in this vision I saw a large, inviting gate. I'd say it was maybe 3 or four stories tall. As I found myself going through the opened gate, there was a path. I followed it straight ahead and was easy - grassy and tree-lined. Very pretty. Then suddenly, I wanted to turn back so I ran towards the open gate that I had come through. Only now the path was tangled with vines over grown trees and roots, etc. I found myself rushing at a high rate of speed trying to get out, and off of the path. But it seemed longer and windier than what it had been when I had first entered.

That being said, here's what I have interpreted about that vision...in essay form.

Walking through an open gate is easy. We see opportunity and freedom on the other side. A path full of wealth and power both in the flesh and spiritually.

But the pretty gate was a lure. Once you realise this and that the things hoped for is a lie, getting back through the gate the other way, may not be so easy. Sure, you went straight ahead, down the path, but when you turn around, suddenly the path is filled with vines and traps and snags and twists and turns… and lies that you fell for. Do you pray for help or do you trip over sin as you long to see the end of the path?

Getting through the gate that leads to sin is easy, but once you realise that you are deep in the sin, surrounded by it, turning around to get out of it might not be so easy. We all fall for the lure of the pretty gate. We see it as God’s open door. We “feel” that that’s where we are supposed to go. We open the gate and step through it, down a new path that God must have put there. We are enticed by the pretty flowers along the way. The temptations. Never realising that we should have never had opened the gate in the first place. We are blinded by the things that deceive us. We think that this must be what God wants us to do.

Did it ever occur to us that yes, maybe God allowed this gate to be put before us, but we were never meant to open it and walk through, down the path on the other side? Maybe He wants us to do a complete turn around and walk through the open gate and path on the other side of the garden? Are we so blinded by the pretty gate before us, that we don’t see the rusty one behind us? The one that squeaks and doesn’t seem as inviting? The one that you didn’t notice before because you were so dazzled by the shiny, sparkly one in front of you? How quickly we jump to judgment! How quickly we fall for anything!

Will you open the gate in front of you and walk through? Will you walk that path? Is it the right one? Does God really want you on it? Or do you “feel” He wants you on it? Do you see the light at the end of the path? Do you see an end? Are you rushing back towards the gate you just came through, suddenly realising that it was decoy from the truth? Do you see your way through the mire and the tangled deceit? Are you relying on yourself or are you relying on the One who will be your guide and your light along the way? Or did you go down the path with the rusty, squeaky gate instead?

Your path is before you. Start walking.

The Pit

A man fell into a pit and couldn't get himself out.

A subjective person walked along and said, "I feel for you down there."

An objective person walked by and said, "It's logical that someone would fall down there."

A Pharisee said, "Only bad people fall into pits."

A mathematician calculated how he fell into the pit.

A news reporter wanted the exclusive story of the pit.

An IRS agent asked if he was paying taxes on the pit.

A self-pitying person said, "You haven't seen anything until you've see my pit!"

A fire-and-brimstone preacher said, "You deserve your pit."

A psychologist noted, "You mother and father are to blame for you being in that pit."

A self-esteem therapist said, "Believe in yourself and you can get out of that pit."

An optimist said, "Things could be worse."

A pessimist claimed, "Things will get worse."

Jesus, seeing the man, took him by the hand and lifted the man out of the pit.

Writers Block

A Writers Block Poem by Me
aka The Schizophrenic Writer

I'm in the process of writing a book right now.
It's the sequel to Unchain.
I'm finding it hard to get past the first chapter.
How annoying!

"Just write" I tell myself.
And for the most part I will and do...
when I'm not distracted
.

I'm so thankful and grateful for this blog

so that I can at least type
what is on my mind at the moment.

I also have ideas floating around
my head for a new book...
and another series.
Not going to tell you about those ones,
as they are still in the works.

It's frustrating having writers block.

Grandmother's and guns

When going through some old photos, I found the strangest thing... a photograph of my grandmother... with a gun! This was probably on the farm that she grew up on, and of course, this would have been the norm for her back then. But still, the sight of this photo was shocking! (-:

Unmask

Are you one who is wearing a mask?

Unmask

You are a mere player
on your own invisible stage;
you are the main character
in the spotlight.
You wear a mask -
you are a different person
playing a phony role
in your unreal life.

Oh, what a tangled web you weave
when you wear too many masks.
Your orchestra is playing
your symphony of life,
as friends, Romans, and country men
will watch and see you fight.
Remove your mask.

Are chandeliers
falling all around you?
Has your Romeo
gone and left?
Have you been lost
and miserable?
Or are you confused
where your "big break" is?

Unmask your true self.
Unmask your hell bound fate;
you must break free, remove your mask.
(Get off your stage)
Unmask your true feelings.
Unmask and confess your sins.

The Rose, the Cactus, and the Sun

A Rose with petals so lovely,
stood...alone
in a vast Desert
somewhere...
unknown to
anyone
in the
world outside.

The Rose noticed a Cactus,
standing magnificently,
in a vast Desert,
somewhere...
unknown to
anyone
who
passed by.

The Cactus looked inviting to the
Rose
as She
touched it
with Her petals so lovely -
but the Cactus
hurt Her
and made
Her cry.

The Cactus only scoffed at the Rose,
which made her feel worse.
She began to wilt
in Her misery.

She
was
dying,
the Rose with petals so lovely.

The Sun saw her in Her pain -
so He
shone
upon
Her
as bright as bright can be.
She
began
to
grow,
and feel so much better!
She was no longer wilting,
but
blossoming
again!

The Sun never left Her, nor dimmed,
but seemed to remain the same.
The Cactus died and shriveled up, to
be nothing more than nothing
in the sand.

A Rose with petals so lovely
stood...not alone
in a vast Desert
somewhere...
unknown to anyone
in the world outside,
but known
to the Morning Star!

Christian Con Artists

I wrote this over three years ago on another blog. I recently found it again and felt that I should post it again on this blog as it's now my main...well...blog.

Christian Con Artists
The great deception

Is it possible that we are Christian con artists? How is this possible? How is it possible that we fall under the same category as a felon? I hate to reiterate, but many of us Christians are just as bad as someone who has committed murder. We fool ourselves if we think everything is always alright in our lives. But, everything isn’t alright. If it were, we would have no reason for repentance and forgiveness, and therefore no reason for a Saviour. Without a Saviour, how can we feel love and acceptance? How will we know right from wrong? And how will we know true freedom? How about others around us? Are we all acting like cons?

The definition of “CON” is adj. involving abuse of confidence and to swindle. To pursue by deception.

According to the above definition, confidence can be abused. If we don’t have the boldness to tell others about Christ, we are in fact betraying their trust, and signing their death warrant. Don’t you think that someone would want to know that here on Earth, there is life with true freedom, and when they die that the same is so? Of course they would. In that respect, we are also abusing our own confidence by not showing it. We need to ask God to give us that boldness to lead others to Him. We need to share His love with others.

Notice I used the word “need”? We need to do what God asks. We need His approval, love, and acceptance. Those who don’t know Christ also need Him. Are we not only con’s, but greedy con’s as well? We hoard all of Christ’s love for ourselves, when clearly is says in Matthew 28:19 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” This was a direct command from Jesus Himself, telling us that we must tell everyone about Him and His love and forgiveness and what wonderful things that love and forgiveness brings. Do we or anyone else have to put up with the enemy’s (Satan’s) abuse anymore? Being abused is not fun! If you see a dog that has been beaten, it cowers if you go to even pet it. Think of it this way, we have been beaten for far too long by Satan and his nasty thing called lack of confidence. It’s time to take back our boldness and courage and take it to our unsaved loved ones, neighbours, and who ever else we come in contact with day to day, or not even day to day but once in a while. It’s time to take back what Satan stole and tell him to get lost!

Looking back to the definition of “CON”, it says that con can swindle. If we look at our lives, how many times have we stolen or swindled an opportunity to be bold for Jesus? How many opportunities have we ignored or brushed off? So many opportunities, so little time! Where’s our courage? We’re robbing ourselves and others of Christ’s love and forgiveness. How will we all fair on the Day of Judgment when we’re facing our Lord? The One Who we denied, time and time again. The One Who died for us. The One we claim we love.

Deception is a big thing when it comes to being a con. You’ll do anything to get what you want and to make yourself feel good and/or better. When we don’t tell others about Christ, we are deceiving them to believe that everything will be okay if only they do good... or mostly good anyway. How foolish can we be? We’ve fallen for this same lie! The only difference is we know the Truth. We just refuse to not tell anyone. We’re deceiving others into believing that we are no different than anyone else, and at the same time, they don’t know that there is hope for them because we’re not living like there is. We are deceiving ourselves if we really believe we can get away with this.

I believe, and I know many other believe, that the biggest con job we as Christian’s have pulled is that we blend in with the world, it’s lies, deception, etc., rather than being apart from it (Romans 12:2). We look like everyone else, so what could be that harm, right? In actual fact, according to Matthew 5:13 we are to be the salt of the earth. Again, we are to be the salt, not the sugar. If we are just adding something like sugar to an already sugary recipe, someone’s going to get a cavity, and it might be us. With that in mind, we are not meant to sugar coat the gospel. We are to tell the truth. Remember this, adding salt to a cookie recipe makes the cookies sweater. In the same way, when we tell others about Christ, we are showing them how much better their lives can be with Him in it. Also remember though, too much salt will spoil the cookie dough. My meaning of this, we are not meant to “Bible bash” people into repentance, but to show Christ’s love. Be compassionate. Think of it this way, if we do “Bible bash” people, are we then in fact not being the salt, but perhaps pepper? Too much spice, and not enough TLC put into the recipe? We’re conning those we are trying to reach if we don’t reach them where they’re at. We’re not reaching them in the right way.

So what now? How do we reach people? In order to reach others in the right way, we need (there’s that word again) to quit being con artists and blending with the world. We need to search our hearts. Does it align with God’s? Or are we fooling ourselves into thinking it does? We need to draw near to God and ask Him to reveal to us what His heart is for us. Listen. What’s He saying? He knows us. He knows everything about us, scary as that may seem. Or can that be comforting for us? We need to ask God for boldness and courage to tell others about Him. We need to ask for forgiveness for not using that boldness or courage or possibly not asking for it before. We need to take back what Satan stole from us so we can show others how to do the same, and we need to do it now! Otherwise, how can we or others reform? We need to become reformed con’s now so others can see that we are indeed prisoners in Christ and not of this world. Others lives are at stake. Your family members and loved ones lives are at stake. Your neighbour’s lives are at stake. Those you see on the street, their lives are at stake. Stranger’s lives are at stake. Your enemy’s lives are at stake. Must we continue to be Christian con artists? Souls are a stake.

Techincal Problems at Shoe Boutique

Right now, Cori-Beth's Shoe Boutique is having techincal difficulties. The problems are at Zazzle.com's end and not ours. They are working on finding the solution and hope to have the issues resolved soon.

As far as we can tell, you can still order products though. However, some of the links on the side bar seem to be missing. Links such as "Fan Club", "Favorites", "Send Message", etc.

Hopefully this will be solved soon. Also, the comments at the bottom of the home page had to be removed due to technical problems on Zazzle's end. Again, hopefully we can get these back up again as well.

We apologise for any inconvenience. Such goes life at times...

The hungry birds

We have only had our finch feeder out for a couple of weeks, and already word has gotten out! We did have two for about a week, but it got too messy on the ground. One day, I counted 45 birds either in the feeders, on the ground, or waiting in the tree for their turn!

And God said, "Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky." So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. God blessed them and said, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth." And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day. - Genesis 1:20-23 NIV

Piece of Peace Before and After

I felt like sharing these with everyone. They talk about peace. The first one is titled "Piece of Peace" and the second one "Before and After". It shows how far we may or may not have come in world peace and peace within ourselves.

What is this
thing called peace?
World peace?
World domination?
Is it a piece of
cake
covered in
ooey-gooey
frosting?

Somehow
I don't think
a piece of pie
is going to cut it.

Do we need to
break peace
down on a pie
chart so we'll have
peace of mind?

Peace with God.
Real peace.

Guinea Pigs and Pink Eye

Yes, once again I haven't written in a while. I was working for the the month of January and I was also working on my online shops. The shoes came out great!

Anyway, I thought I would let everyone know that my sweet little guinea pig Lyric had to be put to sleep this past Friday. She wasn't doing too well that morning and she started to have trouble doing number 2. At first I thought she was having seizures, the way she was pushing and bouncing around. It was so sad to watch. I handed her over to God at that moment, as I was holding her and trying to comfort her. At that moment as well, I knew that she should be let go. As sad as it was going to be and sudden as these "seizures" were, I knew that I had to say good by. And I did. Some may think it's silly by I told my little piggy that "I love you Pretty Princess Lyric" over and over again as I gently stroked her in my arms. "Pretty Princess Lyric" was the nickname that I gave her and was the last thing I said to her every night.

Well, I called our vet and he took her right away. I thought maybe I was jumping to conclusions, that no, my thoughts about letting her go were just in my head. But it was not to be. It was so sad watching her in her cage on the way to the vet. I petted and stroked her and spoke gently to her to try and comfort her.

Anyway, the doctor checked Lyric and she had some sort of twisted blockage in her GI tract (twisted intestines or something). It was probably caused by her strange digestion and the fact that she got "the runs" all the time, so it probably developed over time but had been there a while and now had shifted causing her "number 2" problems. The choices for her were to either have surgery to remove the blockage which would in turn be a 3 out of 4 chance that she would bleed to death after the surgery or to have her put to sleep. The choice was obvious. The only humaine and compassionate thing that I could do was to have her put to sleep. I knew that the doctor was trying to tell me to do this as the surgery was risky. But, again, I knew that morning that I had to let her go. Before we got into the vets, as well, it was like Lyric had given up. Again, so sad to watch.

I don't want to get into the details of the needles and everything because it makes me weepy. But, I stroked Lyric and kept whispering to her "Pretty Princess Lyric" so that would be the last thing that she heard from me, knowing that I love her. I think she knew that I was trying to help her and she was glad to be out of pain when the doctor gave her the pain killer. Apparently, what she was expreriencing as far as pain goes was far worse than what a human would feel.

Lyric went to sleep as I stroked her and then she was gone. I cried of course all through this. I'm a big sap and God gave me a big heart for animals. Again though, I knew that this was the best thing for my little piggy.

When I got home I had a cry and had to get all of Lyric's stuff out of my sight. I couldn't take it right now. Later that afternoon I looked in the mirror and discoved that my eyes were all blood shot. Okay, fine whatever. It was probably from crying. It was later in the day that my eyes were itchy and burning. My left eye then went blurry. Oh great! I thought. I looked in the mirror again, and sure enough, I had pink eye! All of the crying and fur and dust and make-up streaming down my face had caused allergy pink eye! Needless to say, I took my contacts out and put some eye drops in my eyes and ice on them. This is the best thing to do with the allergy kind. Yes, I've had it before. Again from holding Lyric too close.

Well, I had to miss Saturday at my Aunt and Uncles house where a couple of my cousins and my other Aunt and Uncle were going to be. I also had to cancel seeing my friend on Sunday because of this. So, sorry, I'm sure you didn't want to see me like that. Besides, I couldn't see to drive.

When I was at home Saturday night, when everyone was over at my Aunt and Uncles place, a little after 9 pm, I was lying in bed when my thoughts turned to Lyric. That's when I began to cry. I don't just mean a little bit, I mean, I began to sob. For about a half hour... I'm 31 years old, and I'm crying over a guinea pig! This little guinea pig meant that much to me! I thought I was crazy. Why am I crying over a guinea pig?! She was a special little girl. I knew that I had done the right thing by letting her go and handing her over to God, that's what my head was saying, but my heart was breaking. God comforted me after I began to cry out to Him and thank him for bringing Lyric into my life. He remined me of the song "Yes, Lord" that I had listened to only days earlier that Sorrow may last for the night, but joy comes in the morning. The weeping stopped. I was so comforted by the Lord's words that it stopped! He told me that I may sob like that again, but joy comes after it! What a cool thing for God to say.

Sunday morning, the pink eye was still there, but most of it was washed away. Maybe the crying washed it away... making my vision clearer for a new day. Well, I was able to see to create the logo for my new kids shop that I was in the process of creating that was dedicated to Lyric long before all of this drama. I'm not giving the name out just yet, but the Lord gave my some cool ideas that have alot to do with finding joy in everything and rejocing. Yes, I found joy in the morning!

I can't pin point just one thing why this precious guinea pig named Lyric touched me so much, but she did. And I cried over her when she died. But I also smile when I think about how she would coo when she heard a jingle of something or whistled when she heard a bag rattle becasue she thought it was her Timothy Hay bag or whistled when I was say the word "treat". I thank God for bringing her in my life when He did. So I rejoice in her life and the joy she brought me. Timothy Hay and pine chips scattered everywhere so I had to vacuum several times a week and all!

Pretty Princess Lyric, may the pigloo be with you!

Words to Live by...Cowboy Style

1. If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop digging.

2. If you get to thinking you're a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else's dog around.

3. It don't take a genius to spot a goat in a flock of sheep.

4. Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.

Certainly words to live by, that is, if you're a cowpoke!
